with you.
In this article, I will give a comprehensive guide and tips
about how you can easily pass NEBOSH closing interview. So let's get into it!
What is Closing Interview in NEBOSH IGC?
The closing interview is the final stage of IG1 assessment.
It’s basically a meeting arranged by your learning partner. They arrange this
meeting just for checking your knowledge and understandings about Health and safety
management system. This meeting will be a one-to-one meeting and it will last
for around 10 to 30 minutes. Your interviewer will give a brief
guidance about the closing interview and he will start recording the whole
meeting and the interview will began:
Closing Interview:
Firstly the interviewer will introduce himself and ask you
to introduce yourself as well.
Interviewer (Your Learning Partner) will ask you about your
learner number.
After introduction session, interviewer will tell you to
show you’re ID (Whether it’s CNIC (ID card), Passport, Driving license or any
other document that show your Identity).
He will also demand you to show 360° angle of your room and
the place where you are siting. This is just to make sure that you are alone in
the room and there is nobody who can help you during interview.
Which kind of
questions are asked during closing interview of NEBOSH IGC?
Well, it depends on the mind of interviewer. He can ask you
easy as well as difficult questions. In simple words he will ask the questions
the make him sure that the IG1 Open Book Exam is attempted by you. These
questions will be from your IG1 Answer-sheet.
For
Example:
You have written these Bullet Points in TASK-1:
- To fulfil
legal requirements, accident should must be reported to legal
authorities. Employer may deal with fines and other court costs if he do
not report the accident.
- Accident
should must be reported as it is a legal right of workers.
Reporting accident will insure that all the incidents are taken seriously
by the management and without any negligence.
Interviewer will be like: For Task 1 you were asked why
the injury must be reported by the contractor’s employer to the
competent/enforcing authority. You have mentioned two points (fulfil
legal, a legal right of workers requirements), now my question is
"Why these two are important?"
This is what you should do to get prepare for your closing interview:
Go through your IG1 Answer-sheet and the scenario:
Read your IG1 scenario and answer-sheet three to four time
and 1 to 2 hours before the closing interview starts. This will help you to
remember the bullet points you have mentioned in answer-sheet and why you have
written these bullet points. Reading scenario for 3-4 times will help you give
references in your responses to interviewer. You should also go through the
course material and notes so that you can refresh your knowledge and use it
during interview.
Practical knowledge:
Try to gain some practical knowledge by watching videos
on YOUTUBE or any other platform. learn how to apply the
knowledge of health and Safety in real-world. I suggest you to discuss health
and safety related issue's with any HSE professional.
Practice talking to someone:
Try to talk to someone in English language, as I have
mentioned the example above. Tell someone to ask you questions. Repeat this 1
to 3 times and you will be trained enough to give interview.
Tips to appear good in NEBOSH IGC Closing interview:
Stay Confident During Interview:
You’re learning partners are those who teach you during
NEBOSH exam. They will take closing interview as well. You should stay
confident during closing interview because if you get nervous you will give bad
responses to the interviewer, resulting in TBA (To Be Announced)
(Investigation) (Waste of time and money) (Ban) (Fail).
Ensure a good internet connection:
Make sure that the internet you are using during interview
in good enough that you can easily see, hear and make him understand what you
are trying to say. If your internet connection is not good, you might not hear
interviewer properly resulting in bad impression on interviewer.
Close the door properly:
During the closing interview, make sure that you have locked
the door properly. This is not in the guidelines of NEBOSH but it is important.
Let me tell you why, If you do not lock the door and someone accidentally come
inside the room. You will look towards the one who entered the room. This will
impose a bad impression on interviewer which obviously not a good sign. He might think that someone is entered to
help you. So be careful about that.
Don't look somewhere else:
While you are giving interview make sure that you are looking in the eyes of interviewer. If you look at somewhere else like on the wall or table etc, Interviewer could think that you have placed any helping material on the table or wall and you are responding after seeing this helping material. Even though you have shown him 360° of your room.
Hope this blog finds you well and informative.
