In this blog post I will share tips and strategies that I have followed in my exam and cleared NEBOSH IGC in first attempt. NEBOSH EXAM survival tips


NEBOSH Open Book Exam is a not lengthy but it's time taking. This is because you have to research for every single point that you want to add in your answer sheet. Yes, it's true that you have 24 hour's which is a lot of time, But if you do not manage it properly, it will become less for you to complete your exam. You need to be active in the day of your exam, so that you can think straight forward without wasting time on thinking and planning your answer. 

You have to start your preparation a day before your exam. 


How to Maintain Energy During the Exam Day?

Sleep Well One Day Before your NEBOSH Open Book Exam:

Nobody knows except NEBOSH, that the Open Book Exam will be easy or tough. Even your learning partner does not know this. Similarly you also don't know that you can complete the exam during the day or night. If you have to stay awake at the night of your Exam, and you did not get enough sleep, It will become too much difficult for you. 
Insufficient sleep will reduce the thinking ability of your brain, Which will impose a huge impact on the quality of points you will write in your answer. 

Intake Light Meals such as Bread, Biscuits etc:

Eating heavy meals impose negative impact on your focus and concentration, because they make you feel sluggish and uncomfortable. While eating light meals will boost up your concentration power and help you stay focused through out your exam day. In-taking light meal can also help reduce stress and anxiety of your exam by allowing you to attempt your NEBOSH Open Book Exam with clear and calm mind.

No Need to Get Up Early In the Morning (If it's not your exam time):

Since your exam is starting in the day or afternoon, then you don't have to get up early. Getting up early in the morning will make you feel lazy, during the whole exam day. Get up whenever you get enough sleep and before your NEBOSH Open Book Exam starts. 

Exercise for half an hour (Optional):

Since you awoke after getting enough sleep, exercise for half an hour before having break fast. Stretch your body so that you feel calm and comfortable. Exercise is the best way to stay fresh in the whole day.

Take Healthy Break Fast: 

Intake juice and some healthy kind of food so that it can fight with the bacteria's and other bad body conditions and you stay health for entire exam day.

Do Not Study at the day of your NEBOSH Exam (optional):

It's recommended not to study last-minutes before your exam. Let me explain you why:
Human brain can absorb a lot of information at a time, if you force your brain to pack a lot of information in the last-minutes of your exam, it will impose negative effect on your brain. Study at the last-minutes of your exam leads to mental fatigue and stress resulting in decreased productivity of your brain. Studying on the day of NEBOSH IGC exam can also lead to increased anxiety and decreased confidence, making it harder to recall information and think clearly during the open book exam.

Take Regular Breaks: 

For a best and successful attempt of NEBOSH Open Book Exam, you have to keep yourself active and comfortable while you are attempting it. Regular breaks help to refresh the mind, recharge energy levels, and prevent burnout. By taking regular breaks during your open book exam, you can step away from the exam, relax, and come back to the material with a clear and focused mind, which is ultimately leading to better performance and a more successful attempt of NEBOSH OBE.
