Guide to IG2 of NEBOSH IGC


As we have discussed in the previous article that IG1 is a theoretical unit of NEBOSH International General Certificate and is assessed by using Open Book Exam Technique, But
IG2 is completely different from it. 

What is IG2?

IG2 unit is the 2nd Unit of NEBOSH IGC. It is called RISK ASSESSMENT. Learner have to prepare a risk profiling report by identifying the hazards of site and suggesting control measure of them. Learner have to identify the hazards from the site the have selected to make risk assessment. 

In this Risk Profiling Report, Learner have to download IG2 Risk Assessment template from the Official NEBOSH website and fill it with their findings. 

The risk assessment is divided into four parts.

Part 1: Background:

In this part you have to write the 
1: Name of Organisation,
2: Site Location,
3: Number of Workers,
4: General Description of the organisation,
5: Description of the area to be included in the risk assessment. 

You have to write all these requirements in 100 to 150 words. You can also imagine the name of Organisation and site location if you don't have or you want to keep it confidential.

Part 2: Risk Assessment:

Guide to IG2 of NEBOSH IGC

Its the 2nd part of of IG2 report. In this part you have to write the Name of Organisation, Date of assessment, and Scope of risk assessment after this you have to identify at least 10 Hazards for 20 hazard categories and you have to decide who might be harmed from these hazards and how? After that you have to write what are you already doing? (Current Activity). After that you have to suggest further control action to prevent these hazards, and timescale of these hazards and the job title of the person who is responsible for this.

Part 3: Priorities three actions with the justification for the selection:

In the 3rd part of IG2 report, you have to select the most important and essential control measures that you have mentioned in part 2 (Risk Assessment). You also have to justify why you have selected these 3 actions.

Part 4: Review, communicate and Check.

In this Part, You have to plan a date to review the risk assessment in future. You also have to write conditions in which the risk assessment will become negligible for review. After that next step will be to write the ways you will going to communicate this risk assessment to all the employees of organisation. You have to justify that you have clearly communicated this risk assessment with every employee of the organisation. and thirdly you have to How you can check whether your suggested control measures are implemented on organisation or not (You have to assume that you are a safety professional).

Study Duration of IG2 Unit of NEBOSH IGC:

 It depends on different conditions but I suggest you to write each part one by one because every single part of IG2 report is linked with previous part and vice versa. 

Passing Criteria of IG2 Unit:

This Unit of NEBOSH International General Certificate do not contain even a single mark. It is whether be passed of referred. NEBOSH Officer Learning Partners have set passing criteria of IG2 unit if your prepared risk assessment report is meting the criteria of NEBOSH IGC then it will be passed otherwise it will be referred.
